Feminism and Food Justice
I believe gender has an intense sometimes unconscious role in eating behavior. From society and further backed up from the articles there is a certain connotation that we think of between men and women eating. Societal roles have made women have a more important relationship with food. I thought it was very interesting in the Cairns, Johnston, and Bauman broke down that stereotype in the pleasure section. Some women participants in this study spoke about how they want their food to taste like something or they are clearly interested in taste not health. I feel this is a way for women to break out of the stereotypes and proudly declare themselves as foodies. On the other hand another an other participant spoke about how our culture is still uncomfortable with the female appetite. This statement got me thinking about food justice and feminism.
Even though this article did not speak necessarily about food justice, I think it's an interesting starting point to tackle this issue through a feminist approach. I think this article opened avenues for women to speak openly and honestly about food that could progress the feminist movement. Even though the women were mostly white and from the upper middle class it's baseline information that could open the door to more research. I think subjects indirectly associated with this article include providing lower SES mothers with healthy food, creating positive body image for woman by invoking pleasure into what they eat, and empowering women through the preparation of food.
From the important role woman have with food, is it a feminist issue? If food justice is a feminist issue, are there other factors that should be involved?

Food has frequently been called a feminist issue. This link is to just one (recent) of many possible examples. http://www.feministcurrent.com/2015/01/04/im-not-a-feminist-i-love-cooking-why-food-is-a-feminist-issue/ [I don't see a way to insert a functioning link in a comment, so you may need to cut and paste to get there].
